Problem

The client needed an online presence to document and announce their growing library of games, news and impact on the industry, while being able to easily scale and manage that presence without the need for extra development.

Solution

I worked closely with Shapemaker, to integrate their stellar brand design and creative direction for a website built in Webflow with various ways to document, feature, filter, search and promote new and existing games they release.

Mid-fidelity wireframes

Early iteration and exploration were crucial to define a direction for this scale of a project. I collaborated with the Creative Director at Shapemaker to design a wireframe in Figma as a means to gather feedback and refine our overall content strategy. I prefer to do 'mid-fidelity' wireframes like this to help guide the general layout direction alongside the content, while keeping the fidelity low enough so early client reviews can remain focused on content and functionality. This approach also allows me to move efficiently from wireframe to Webflow where Design and Development can happen in parallel to reduce overall build time and allow the Design to guide the inevitable edge cases that come along with Development.

Game library

Ziggurat has a large library of games they have remastered and wanted to display on the website in a way that was easy to filter and search to find games for any specific interest. I utilized the powerful search and filter capabilities of Jetboost.io for fast, low-code implementation that would allow the library to scale entirely from the client's updating via the Webflow Editor.

Customization & performance

This website involved a considerable amount of custom JS and JS libraries to power functionality like the various slider styles, metro layout, and other elements that created the dynamic, scalable and engaging experience. Due to the website also being naturally image heavy, I went through a couple of rounds of optimization and load testing to ensure it maintained first class performance.
